Then there were none.

There was a time when all the states in India were ruled by Congress. Now at the moment we have 3 Congress Chief Ministers. With Punjab elections coming the infighting in the Congress has reached another level and it seems that the Prince of Akbar road has decided that Captain Amarinder Singh, the CM and de facto leader of the party in Punjab should resign. It doesn’t seem like a logical move, but then again Congress was never about logic.

At at time when the country is being eaten from inside by a cancerous ideology, a party with no ideology (except maybe opportunism) is never a good medicine to fix it. There is a very high chance that our nation will be fucked for years to come before things may take a better turn, and the demise of Congress would certainly speed up the whole cycle.

They ruled all the states in the beginning, now it is 3, and soon enough there will be none. Let regional parties controlled by local leaders take that space. Let the original idea of India, a ‘Union of states’ be brought back again. I am strangely hopeful about a better future for the country, years down the line — and neither BJP nor Congress should be around for that.
